No gimmicks. No unnecessary complexity. Just thoughtful engineering.
Andrew Ritchie, founder of Brompton Bicycle, set up Ckanta in 2022 to develop a novel Bicycle Assist Kit.
Its defining characteristic is flexibility, allowing a user readily to change a standard pedal-bike from being Unassisted to Assisted, and vice-versa, with minimum weight penalty.
Two features provide this flexibility:
The assist kit can be readily removed from the bike, returning it to its original weight and spec. No tools, experience or mechanical knowledge required.
With the kit attached, a rider can decouple the assisting mechanism with a flick of a lever, reverting to normal, entirely resistance-free pedalling. Whenever the rider wants assist again, a flick back restores it.
The Company has a prototype in use, with which the concept has been proven. We are currently
Finalising a production-ready design
Validating durability and performance
Preparing for controlled early release.
George Dzavaryan, an experienced engineer, has joined the company to lead the team, tasked with refining & testing the product, and arranging its manufacture.
Our system is designed to fit naturally into existing bikes, preserving their character rather than replacing it.
From materials to architecture, every decision prioritises longevity, safety and reliability.
Simple and joyful integration into every-day use with predictable and smooth assist.
We are a team of avid bike commuters developing a product for ourselves as much as for anyone else.
